The community of Elmhurst is located in DuPage and Cook counties in northern Illinois. This city is home to a population of over 47,000 people and is a prominent western suburb of Chicago.

Perhaps most notable about the city, outside of its location close to Chicago, is Elmhurst University, a college that dates to 1871 and offers undergraduate and graduate programs to about 3,200 students each year. The school was in place long before the village was incorporated in 1882.

Elmhurst is also the home of Keebler Company’s headquarters, which later was purchased by the Kellogg Company. In addition to this, the city is the home of Sunshine Biscuits and McMaster-Carr Supply Co. as well as Famous Amos cookies.

Elmhurst residents are able to spend time exploring all of Chicago’s amenities and entertainment options, but the town also has its own arts and cultural events that are worthy of recognition. That includes the Wilder Park Conservatory, one of the most recognized conservatories in the world.

The Theatre Historical Society of America is another example, specializing in the preservation of opera, dance and movie theaters, and it calls this city home. This organization has a number of artifacts from theaters across the country.

The Art in Wilder Park is a local event that takes place each spring in which local artisans of fine arts, crafts and other unique creations are sold. The event often has live music, lots of food options, entertainment and fun activities to get the kids interested and involved.

That event takes place in Wilder Park, a centralized park in the city that is also home to the Wilder Park Conservatory, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, the Wilder Mansion and the Elmhurst Public Library. This park is at the heart of the city and one of the most common locations for festivals and activities.

Each year, the city holds a Memorial Parade, a longstanding event that dates back to 1918. This event, along with the Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day Parade, are some of the most notable events that take place in the community each year, though there are other music festivals and farmer’s markets.

One of the most notable of these festivals is the Elmhurst Farmer’s Market, a long-held market that runs during the warmer months and brings together local artisans and farmers to sell directly to consumers.

Residents who are looking to have fun can find many things to do, including enjoying any of the neighborhood playgrounds or exploring the city on the Elmhurst Express Trolley, which is the perfect way to see numerous historical sites. Another option is to visit the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, a location that showcases gemstones and engravings.

A number of neighborhoods make up Elmhurst, including those in Downtown Elmhurst, which is the ideal place to live for those who want to be a part of the area’s shopping and dining district. The downtown area is home to a number of larger estates as well as more modern, updated townhomes and condos.

Fairview is another multi-million dollar luxury community that is located near Chicago. This community is also home to larger properties, including some estates with over 6,500 square feet of living space.

Tuxedo Park is another upscale community with larger estate-like homes sitting on large lots with beautiful architecture. These are newer homes offering a range of home styles and designs.
