Wonder Walls: How Color Palettes can Make or Break a High-end Home Purchase

Luxury Portfolio International® will host its “Luxury Hour” webcast tomorrow, delving into the importance of paint color, wallpaper, and must-know trends

NEW YORK, NY, August 10, 2021 – The latest installment of Luxury Portfolio International®’s (LPI) “Luxury Hour” webcast series will explore what is arguably one of the most crucial elements of residential interior design: Wall color.

A panel of experts will speak live on Wednesday, August 11, from 11 a.m. to noon ET, exploring the ways in which paint hues and/or wallpaper styles can heavily influence a buyer’s decision to purchase a home -- sometimes even derailing a deal altogether.  The event, “Off the Wall: Trends in Color, Paint and Wallpaper,” will offer a wealth of knowledge to luxury agents and their clients, most especially as it pertains to burgeoning interior design trends.

In the midst of the pandemic -- with there being a wider-than-ever spotlight on homes, the comforts they offer, and the importance of everyday style -- the ways in which color can influence the home-buying process (and best practices as they relate to the choice of color and paint) will be explored throughout the in-depth dialogue.  LPI, which continues to spearhead this instructive series, is the luxury arm of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World®, the largest global network of premier locally branded firms.

“It is not something we always think about, but the color of a home’s walls can deeply impact the way a prospect visualizes a residence as their future dwelling,” said Mickey Alam Khan, President of LPI and moderator of the panel.  “Self-expression through the choice of paint -- a deep burgundy or a pastel blue, for instance -- may ultimately dissuade interested buyers.  All in all, neutral is key.”

Speakers will include:

Julia Buckingham, founder/principal, Julia Buckingham Interiors

Patrick O'Donnell, international brand ambassador, Farrow & Ball

Amy Vroom, owner/creative director, The Residency Bureau

Additional topics planned for the discussion will entail:

Ideal approaches to the choice of color, paint and wallpaper for houses and apartments

Eco-friendly paint and wallpaper: Is there consumer demand?

The art of layering and the 60-30-10 rule

Color by room, interiors and exterior

Impact of lighting on color palette

How brokers and agents should advise potential home-sellers regarding color for effectiveness of listings online, in print and in-person
