Built in 1803 by the 28 year old prodigy architect Asher Benjamin, was created as the Governor's Mansion for Vermont Federalist, Isaac Tichenor. The entry speaks to the original design of the home, with 10'6' ceilings and graceful spiral staircase.  Murals throughout the home were hand painted. Elegance continues in the living room with a period fireplace and wide plank floors.  The library is a cozy escape and the dining room features a fireplace-one of seven in the home.   A spacious updated kitchen includes sitting area and views of the river.  Six bedrooms upstairs including a master bedroom with fireplace, large dressing room and full bath.  Third floor includes a media room with kitchenette and wet bar.  The guest wing or staff quarters provides a bedroom with private bath, a gymnasium and half bath.  The pool house features a dining area, changing area and laundry!  The estate also has a completed 1200 square foot caretaker/guest cottage with two bedrooms and a spacious kitchen/great room.
