Most of the students were wealthy winter visitors studying Latin, science, literature, harp, and pianoforte.

Most notable was the transfer in 1989 to real estate developers Gene and Marilyn Buchanan. The couple’s work on historic structures in Old Town Pasadena was a catalyst for the reinvention of Pasadena ’s historic core.
