Since the current owners moved into the property 36 years ago it has been an every evolving labor of love and today it brings together a lifetime of artistic creativity. Clóran is as much about beautiful old buildings as it is about its gardens. Living in Clóran is a life of living outside and inside and stepping out of each door will bring different aspects of the vibrant garden. Walking through the gardens at Clóran is a special adventure, which might find you on stepping stones over a pond, or arriving to the circular garden, uncovering carved stone work while walking through rockeries and shrubberies. Hidden on the west side of the garden is the swimming pool, where you can bath while enjoying the viewings over to Glendalough. The gardens are on many different levels, some of them were planned, while some happened, but all keeping within the sympathy of the mountain backdrop.
The owners have managed to create their very own micro-climate, which is remarkable at this high level, but yet, an abundance of plants, soft fruit and rare trees and flowers flourish at Clóran. The property is situated on a 180 degree south facing slope and benefits from direct sunlight throughout the day. The accommodation is bright and spacious with well proportioned rooms and finished to an exceptionally high standard and large windows framing a variance of views of the garden and surrounding countryside. Garden and grounds The gardens enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding country side and are filled with abundance of unusual and specimen plants, trees and shrubberies.
The gardens with their amazing backdrop have a structural background but informally planted. In the Circular Herb Garden there is an array of vegetables and fruit trees, all planted around rockeries, shrubberies and in herbaceous boarders.
