FULTON FARM$2,750,000 (select currency) |
Equally suitable as a country playground or a working farm, this compound consists of an imposing converted Bank Barn with elegant pool and gardens, three cottages, barns, storage buildings and a tennis court. The beautiful Wickecheoke Creek meanders through the rolling fields. A handsome stone building known as the “Truman Library”* is constructed of puddingstone and clapboard. This building was named by a previous owner, Hugh Fulton, for his friend, President Harry Truman. The expansive converted Bank Barn functions as the main residence. An entry Foyer with large closet and half bath leads to a grand salon style room that is anchored by a fireplace and massive exposed beams. Tall windows frame sweeping views out over the fields. At the heart of the home is a 30’ x 30’ ground level keeping room. This room has an exposed rubble-stone foundation wall, built in cabinets, an updated kitchen incorporating an imposing antique bar seamlessly married to the matching custom cabinetry. The dining room is open to the kitchen and the gathering area. This unique area accommodates cooking and entertaining guests comfortably in one space. A nearby pantry room, laundry/bathroom, and entry hall with direct access to three-car garage complete this ground floor. The large master suite with two separate bathrooms has a sitting room/office/nursery as well as fitted closets and posh furniture style fully fitted bath. A staircase with ornamental railing leads to two bedrooms and a connecting bathroom. The nearby towns of Stockton, Lambertville, and New Hope PA along the Delaware River provide recreational activities, shopping, antiquing and fine dining.
* HISTORY OF “TRUMAN LIBRARY” Hugh Fulton was Chief Counsel to Senator Truman from 1941 to 1943 and served on the Truman Committee. Documentary sources tell us that Mr. and Mrs. Fulton often spent weekends at their country house in “Flemington”. Mrs. Fulton (Jessie) was especially happy being at the farm and preferred it to life in Washington D.C... In 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Fulton accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harry Truman on the presidential campaign. Through this friendship the two-story stone building on their property came to be known as the “Truman Library”.
