DESCRIPTION
Prospect House is a double fronted traditional Georgian house, dating back to the 1750’s. The residence is approached by a winding tree-lined avenue which curves to the front entrance and also continues onto the backyard. The house is approached by a flight of limestone steps to double doors. On entering the main hall there is an immediate feeling of spaciousness which continues throughout the house. On the ground floor there are generously proportioned rooms including a drawing room, dining room and there is also a family sitting room and large kitchen an arch to conservatory style breakfast room. There are four large bedrooms on the first floor and the attic which is now closed up also has three further rooms. The house has a full size basement which is accessed through the back hall. The basement, which has the original stone flag floor at present also has its own private bar and a wine cellar - there are windows in three rooms and the temperature remains at 11 degrees all year round. The reception rooms are bright and are enhanced by their pleasant proportions. The house boasts many of the Georgian features such as corniced ceilings, antique fireplaces and recessed shuttered windows. To the rear of the property is a large courtyard which houses many useful outbuildings.
The property boasts many fine mature trees, both on the tree lined avenue and on the lands around the property, the most famous trees being the Lebanese Blue Cedar tree which is over 250 years old. The main garden is in the original walled garden which the present owners have cultivate and put a lot of hard work into making it the oasis it is.
