False Caye Island is located less than a mile east of the Placencia Peninsula in the Stann Creek District, Belize, Central America. The Placencia peninsula is one of the highest resort development areas in the entire country of Belize. The architectural plan for False Caye Island was done by OBM International in Coral Gables, Florida as a Resort and Residential Development. The above referenced development as conceived by the Architect's was reviewed in depth by the Department of the Environment (DOE) of the Government of Belize. The Plan was approved with certain recommendation and an Economic Compliance Plan was issued by the DOE after intensive review over a two year period. A copy of this plan is available upon request. A very attractive feature of this Island is that it can only be accessed by boat providing a very private setting. Access to Placencia Village is either by boat or by plane. The development was designed to accommodate a hotel with 38 rooms, and 41 residential units (Villas) that would be managed by the hotel. The developers may apply for tax exempt status under the Export Processing Zone Act of Belize once the development is commenced.
