Odellville is a protected structure, approached via a modern entrance beside the original gates, passing a stone gate lodge which leads to a sweeping avenue lined with spectacular gardens. There is a tennis court just inside the entrance. Odellville’s main house is a three storey over basement with a Victorian extension to the back, which was built in the 1880s. Steps of carved limestone lead to the front door. Its accommodation extends to a drawing room, kitchen, study, seven bedrooms, a play room, two bathrooms and an extensive basement with old kitchen, pantry, dairy and store room. The gardens surrounding the property are extensively laid out with shrubs, trees and flowerbeds.
The maturity of the planting is exceptional with fine specimens of Rhododendron, Weeping Ash, Magnolia, Witch Hazel and much more. Odellville is renowned for its prolific displays of snowdrops, daffodils and hellebores. There is an original walled kitchen garden including an orchard. At one time it was a thriving family kitchen garden producing vegetables and fruit such as raspberries, blackcurrants and redcurrants. To the rear of the residence, there is an old yard with a coach house, a shed and stables. It has original stonework which would be ideal for renovation. The working farmyard comprises a milking parlour, cubicle sheds, silage pits, slurry storage, and good cattle handling facilities. The land extends to c.60.67 ha (149.9 acres). It is currently all in grass, with excellent free draining soil.
There is a farm road with its own entrance from the public road that leads to the working farmyard and which extends to the end of the property. There is mature woodland as well as many trees along the perimeters. The abundant high mature hedging is ideal for shelter. Inside the entrance, the gate lodge is a stone building with Virginia creeper. Its accommodation extends to a sitting room, kitchen, four bedrooms, a bathroom and separate garage. The property is in need of some modernization.
