Houston Legend Martha Fuller Turner Named to the 2009 Texas Business Hall of Fame

Houston --Martha Fuller Turner, President and CEO of Martha Turner Properties, a billion dollar, Houston-based independent residential real estate company, has been selected for induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. What an honor. She is one of only seven (7) women to ever have received this prestigious honor.

Turner is among four Texas business legends who will be honored and officially inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame at its annual induction dinner October 15, 2009.
Past esteemed legends who are in the Hall of Fame include President George H.W. Bush, Overta Culp Hobby, Ross Perot, Ben Taub, Lloyd Bentsen Sr., T. Boone Pickens, Drayton McLane, Jr., Roger Staubach, Hugh Roy Cullen, Jesse Jones, to highlight a few.

Now in it’s 27th year, the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation honors members of the state’s business community whose visions and careers have helped to place Texas at the forefront of the state’s economy.

“I thank the fine folks of Hemphill, Texas, where I grew up, for being so supportive of all of my efforts. My family and the citizens of Hemphill gave me the foundation I needed to succeed. They helped give me the desire to be the best I could be,” said Martha Turner. “When I received the call that I had been inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame, my heart stopped. I don’t know when I have been so humbled and surprised. When I think of all the remarkable men and women of who have received this tremendous honor I am so very excited to be listed with such great Texans.”

Turner’s fellow inductees into the 2009 Texas Business Hall of Fame are: James Hackett, President and CEO of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in Houston; Phillip Romano, Owner of Romano Concepts in Dallas; and the Susser Family in Corpus Christi.

Turner Honored for Achievement in the Real Estate Industry

Martha Fuller Turner is a leading Realtor, creative entrepreneur, humanitarian, teacher, and family woman with a unique blend of energy, optimism and humor. What began as a two-person office 27 years ago Is now a major independent brokerage company with a global presence, supported by over 200 top-producing Realtors across five full-service offices in the greater Houston area. Houston Mayor Bill White proclaimed October 24th as Martha Turner Day in Houston,. Additionally, the Greater Houston Partnership named her company one of Houston’s greatest companies. Making Martha Turner Properties the first-ever residential real estate company to receive this distinction. Born and raised in the east Texas town of Hemphill, Martha developed her passion for hard work in her family's store, Fuller's Dry Goods and Feed Store.

After graduating from college with a major in music and education, she married and began a fifteen-year career teaching music and geography in elementary school. After retiring from teaching in 1979, she earned her real estate license and the rest is history.

Martha's commanding presence and commitment to excellence has kept her and her company at the top of its game. The company culture is one of giving its sales associates the tools necessary to grow. Martha is at the helm of a well-organized, seamless operation with advancements in technology to assist her agents with every part of the sales and listing side of their business.
