Boca, as the locals call it, is still affected by colorful personalities from its past-people like Thomas Moore Rickards, who discovered what he called "America's last frontier" and gave the city its name; as well as Clarence Geist, who painted the famous Boca Raton Resort & Club bright pink to mimic the area's perfect sunset, giving the city its signature color. Although rich in history, this affluent city is all about the pleasures of the present. There's a reason that life in Boca Raton is compared to being on a never-ending vacation. Or rather, many reasons, like championship golf courses, tennis, gorgeous beaches, top-notch shopping, fine dining, notable culture, and of course, the tropical weather. Those who call Boca home live the fantasy every day (or, in the case of many Northeasterners, at least for the winter months), and have their own piece of paradise by the ocean, where every window welcomes the verdant, warm outdoors.
