About North Yorkshire
They've been the main character in countless novels, the star of many a movie, and the subject of songs that are heard across the world: The North York Moors. Formed due to the unique properties of the geology of the general Yorkshire region, the moors, with their colorful lichen, unique wildlife, and brooding, inspiring foggy dawns, have become recognized as an integral part of English culture and, more specifically, the daily lives of those who live in the county in which they are situated, North Yorkshire.

With over 40% of its terrain dedicated to national parks and wilderness preserves, North Yorkshire remains one of the few places in Europe that is true to its natural heritage, a fact that has made the country estates that dot its interior highly prized among individuals who dream of waking up each morning to the sight of colorful, waving heather. Indeed, its light agrarian usage, even in the areas not controlled by the park service, makes every inch of this ancient and noble county suitable for even the most discerning historical purist or grandest rural home. As the government closely regulates any new construction in the area, the sanctity of this open area is likely to remain preserved forever.

The moors are not the only untouched habitat within the county that has the capability of winning over the hearts of even the most traveled hikers, cyclists, and general outdoor enthusiasts, however. Rising just to the west of the Pennine watershed, the Yorkshire Dales, a system of upland river valleys, waterfalls, and caves, is a stunning natural wonder in its own right. Due to the variability of its terrain, generally mild weather, and plethora of both inspiring land formations and historic landmarks, estates that runs along Yorkshire Dales National Park are considered some of the most valuable retreat property in England. With a variety of so-called 'spa towns', including Ilkley, Skipton, Settle, and Harrogate, the area has a loosely spaced assemblage of modest urban settings for residents to explore, as well. It is the Vale's network of caves and bike paths, though, that many of its residents find to be a true source of continuing adventure.

History has also provided many of North Yorkshire's most memorable landmarks. With medieval ruins that include the gothic Bolton Abbey and the mysterious stone hunting lodge at Dob Park, the landscape of the county is reflective of the long, complex history of northern England. Market towns like Knaresborough, which is famed for the stately, arched bridge that spans the River Nidd, also enhance the general character of the countryside which, in most places, feels like it has stepped, untouched, out of times long past.

For owners of the stately homes that grace the county, all of this translates to days that can, based on their choosing, be filled with exciting explorations, studious contemplation and relaxation, or a combination of both. However they decide to live, anyone who purchases a home in North Yorkshire can feel secure in knowing that they have become a part of the history of one of England's great places.
