They've been the main character in countless novels, the star of many a movie, and the subject of songs that are heard across the world: The North York Moors. Formed due to the unique properties of the geology of the general Yorkshire region, the moors, with their colorful lichen, unique wildlife, and brooding, inspiring foggy dawns, have become recognized as an integral part of English culture and, more specifically, the daily lives of those who live in the county in which they are situated, North Yorkshire.

Market towns like Knaresborough, which is famed for the stately, arched bridge that spans the River Nidd, also enhance the general character of the countryside which, in most places, feels like it has stepped, untouched, out of times long past.
