To get his wealthy friends to come south, Henry Morrison Flagler did what any cofounder of Standard Oil might do: he built a railroad. Resdents of the Jacksonville area are living among some of the oldest and most opulent resorts in Florida, along with newer treasures, like world-famous golf courses and luxury homes on the long barrier islands between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
