The recent $9 million closing of a 10,000-plus square foot Tower Suite at The Gables Club in Coral Gables, Florida marked the highest-priced residential condo sale in the city's history. Audrey Ross, Senior Vice President of Luxury Portfolio member Esslinger-Wooten-Maxwell, brokered the sale.

Keeping consistent with the now ever-present themes of sustainability and green living in luxury residences is the emerging trend of “deconstruction.” As opposed to demolition, deconstruction allows non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity to repurpose usable parts of homes that would be tear-downs and pass them on to new users.

This process is certainly applicable to the luxury market; buyers of luxury residences acquire surrounding property with existing homes, while prime waterfront parcels often have structures that could be recycled.
