To blog about luxury homes and not mention Arizona would be a tremendous oversight. The state is an oasis of luxury, with enough luxury homes to fill the Grand Canyon. Take this stunning seven-bedroom Tucson home. Set on cliffs overlooking all of Tucson, the home has been featured in Architechtural Digest, Dream Homes, and Design & Architecture, among other publications. Natural materials mix with modern elements for a gracious balance of old and new - the contemporary kitchen a great example of this harmony. A well-kept tennis court, pool, hot tub, and fire pit add to the resort-like atmosphere of the 20-acre property. The home is listed with Long Realty Company.

luxury Arizona homes...
Scottsdale has become one of the hottest (no pun intended) luxury markets in Arizona, with gourmet restaurants, top spas, great golf, and fantastic shopping. There are so many wonderful luxury homes in Scottsdale that I may have to follow this post with another one focusing just on Scottsdale, but for now, I'll just write about a couple of my favorites, both listed with
Russ Lyon Realty Company. This
fortress-like estate caught my eye. It is settled majestically atop a hill with incredible views of the surrounding landscape. The interior is infused with Mediterranean style and European flair, and includes a wine room, media room and atrium. The 4-acre property includes a guest house and a courtyard with a dramatic waterfall, negative-edge pool, spa and multiple sundecks.

My other Scottsdale example is
this exquisitely crafted home, finished with Venetian plaster walls, tumbled marble, hardwood floors, natural stones, and handcrafted details. The earthy tones and natural materials give this desert home an ancient elegance, while modern amenities - such as the gourmet kitchen, media room, putting green, negative-edge pool and wine cellar - keep the home current.

Just down the road from Scottsdale is
Phoenix- a booming metropolis chock full of luxury homes, including this
Mediterranean masterpiece, also listed with
Russ Lyon Realty Company. Vaulted ceilings and skylights throughout create a cavernous quality, while intricate decorative details add an impression of intimacy.

If you want something further removed from city life, or you're a golf enthusiast, check out
this golf course home in
Sedona. Not only is it on a golf course, but it has mesa and red rock views, as well as amazing Wright-influenced architecture. I'll stop here, but if you want to see more, you can check out many more
