Luxury Portfolio and Mansion Global Host "A Night in SoHo"
On Tuesday, April 3, 2018 Luxury Portfolio and Mansion Global co-hosted “A Night in Soho” in one of Manhattan’s premier penthouses at One Vandam listed by Stribling & Associates. The event was the perfect opportunity to highlight the potential to entertain 100+ people in this, the last penthouse available in the building. The three-story space highlighted the best of SoHo including the incredible architecture and the high-end food and entertainment found in the area.
With its unique construction, ample entertaining space, and beautiful, south facing views over SoHo, One Vandam is an incredible space to host a high-end event in New York City. The home has a spacious dining area for large groups and a 28-foot wide living room that looks out on to the 400-square-foot terrace. The main kitchen is fit to prepare a feast for guests with state-of-the-art appliances, a windowed pantry and a 103-bottle wine refrigerator. While the second level of the space features additional bedrooms and views of downtown Manhattan, the third floor hosts more space for entertaining guests. A 1,400-square-foot terrace complete with a catering kitchen, living area and a private spa complete the remarkable third floor area.
To further discuss the construction and design of the space and how it stands out among other buildings in the SoHo area, Luxury Portfolio president Stephanie Anton interviewed the listing agent of the property, Sean Murphy Turner and architect of One Vandam, George Scheiferdecker at the event. “Sense of place is a term that we use a lot and it has to do with the notion that you try to take a look at where you’re building, its immediate context and what sort of ideas you can grab from it,” said Scheiferdecker. “The sense of place here is not only a sense of where you are on the ground but its where you are at 6 stories and 12 stories.”
Schiferdecker went on to discuss how the building was designed to be seen from a 360-degree angle and the materials that were used in the construction to showcase its meticulous details.
Guests toured the home and enjoyed tequila tasting, light bites and mini bottles of Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut champagne chilled in the statement bathtub on the second level as well as a second panel discussion moderated by Mansion Global editor-in-chief Mae Cheng, who discussed what makes SoHo unique with famed local restauranteurs Michael Chernow and Andrew Carmellini. The chefs discussed their favorite dishes from each of their restaurants and what they love most about the SoHo area.
The night combined food, drink and architecture with insights from those who knew SoHo best. The compelling discussions were second only to the remarkable views and thoughtful design of the penthouse at One Vandam.
